INAUGURATION OF THE MUNICIPAL EDUCATION OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE (MEOC)
This morning, I had the honour of inaugurating the Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC) of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly.
In my address, I formally welcomed members of the committee and outlined the key challenges confronting the education sector within the municipality, including issues relating to infrastructure, supervision, and overall service delivery. I further highlighted a number of critical interventions being undertaken by the Assembly, particularly in the area of educational infrastructure. Some of these projects have already commenced, while others are expected to kick-start in the coming months to improve teaching and learning outcomes across the municipality.
I charged the committee to work diligently and collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders to ensure effective monitoring, accountability, and improved performance within the education sector.
The committee was duly inaugurated in accordance with Section 28 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which mandates Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to establish sub-committees to support the effective performance of their functions, including oversight responsibilities in key sectors such as education.
I am confident that the MEOC will play a pivotal role in strengthening educational delivery and advancing quality education in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
